Four Killed, As Gunmen Attacks Residence Of Chairman Of Ikwo L.G.A In Ebonyi State

Gunmen attacked the home of the Chairman of the Council Area, Steve Orogwu, in Ikwo Local Government Area on Tuesday night, killing three of his relatives.

According to PUNCH, the gunmen also killed a security guard on duty and burned down Orugwu's family home.

It was discovered that the council boss was not at home when the gunmen struck and caused mayhem.

According to a reliable source close to Mr. Orogwu, the hoodlums stormed the chairman's home in Ekpaomaka late Tuesday night.

Mr. Orogwu, the head of the Council, confirmed the incident to journalists on Wednesday morning.

"They attacked my family compound in Ikwo at night and killed my elder brother, two of his sons, and a security guard," he claims.

He also claimed that the gunmen set fire to the family's house in the compound.

According to reports, the victims' bodies were taken to a mortuary in Abakaliki.

Between Monday and Tuesday, the South-East geopolitical zone observed a sit-in called by a splinter group of the Indigenous People of Biafra.

The the motives for the attack could not be determined as of the time of filing this report on Wednesday morning.

Mrs. Loveth Odah, the state Police Public Relations Officer, said she was away on an official assignment when our correspondent contacted her for comment on the matter.

As of the time of filing this report, Odah had yet to respond to messages sent to her mobile phone by our correspondent on the subject.
