The Igbo Youths for Positive Change have praised Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo's visit to detained Indigenous People of Biafra leader Nnamdi Kanu. The group described it as a significant step toward restoring peace and security in Anambra and the entire South-East region.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the group's President, Chinedu Obigwe, stated that Soludo has a strong desire to restore peace and security to the South-East. Obigwe stated that the governor's visit will ensure two things: Kanu's release from detention and the end of insecurity in Anambra and the South-East in general.
Soludo paid Kanu a visit in DSS custody on Friday, saying it was part of his broader consultations with key stakeholders in search of long-term peace and security in the South-East.
"He was in very high spirits, and we had quality and frank discussion in a very convivial atmosphere," the governor wrote on his Facebook page.Â
He expressed sorrow over what he called "sacrilegious killings" of innocent people, kidnappings, and all forms of criminality, including the brutal enforcement of the senseless 'sit at home' imposed by various groups claiming to be acting for or on behalf of IPOB.Â
He promised that if the opportunity arose, he would gladly personally broadcast to his followers in order to keep the peace. "We will do it together."
Obigwe believes the governor deserves to be recognized and praised for taking bold steps to restore peace to the region.
"We are proud of our support for Soludo, and we know that other of his supporters are as well," he said. You will recognize someone who has a strong desire to establish peace and security in his state. He genuinely wants to bring peace and security to his state and the South-East.Â
His visit to Kanu in DSS custody is not something to be taken lightly. It is something that all ndi Anambra and Igbo should be proud of. Soludo is a character who takes his work seriously.
