Suspected gunmen set fire to the Idemili North Local Government Secretariat and a Magistrates' Court in Ogidi.
According to sources, the arsonists entered the property on Sunday night to carry out the act.
They were said to have set fire to all secretariat files and properties, including the secretariat building.
The entire buildings were reduced to rubble, according to videos and photos of the incident that circulated online.
Vehicles parked inside the local government secretariat were also razed to the ground.
DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesman for the state police command, confirmed the incident and blamed it on unidentified arsonists.
"Yes, the incident was confirmed," Ikenga said, "and our men were there to restore normalcy."
The fire has been extinguished, and peace has been restored.
