On Thursday 2 May 2022, Deborah Samuel, a Student of Shehu Shagari College of Education was gruesomely attacked, beaten and viciously burnt to death in Sokoto.
According to notable news sources and anonymous commentaries flying in and out of social media, Deborah Samuel's life was cut short for alleged blasphemy.
To be murdered in cold blood and burnt is a completely needless and dastardly act that must be condemned, and the appropriate authorities must investigate this inhumane, unconstitutional and unlawful act, and the perpetrators be brought to justice.

In addition to developing reports, there's a Whatsapp voice-note of Deborah that went viral and shared across various media platforms, which was attributed as the reason why Deborah Samuel was killed, as said in Hausa but quoted in English after translation.
Translation : "Holy ghost fire, nothing would happen to me, is it by force you guys would always be sending these religious stuff in the group, the group wasn't created for that, but rather as a notice for when there's a test, assignment, exams etc not these nonsense religious posts"
