He posted this on his Facebook page, along with a photo of himself and the text – Jesus.
"I know a name that can change Nigeria's current state for the better," he wrote.
He made the remarks just hours after reacting to the killings of Christian worshipers at St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State.
According to sources, gunmen attacked the church, killing approximately 40 worshipers during Sunday service.
Adeboye expressed his sadness over the attack in a Facebook post on Tuesday, saying that every soul counts before God.
"My heart goes out to everyone who has been affected by this heinous attack," he wrote. "Every soul counts before God, and I know that He is greatly displeased with this wickedness, and I am unable to comprehend the evil that motivates one human being to deliberately take the life of another." I beseech God to send such greetings once more. And may such bloodshed never befall Nigeria again."
